***dachau***
We visited the memorial of the Dachau concentration camp.
the end of the line.

We happened to be in town as the Dachau Volksfest was going on literally walking distance from the camp. We found it so ironic to learn that the annual bierfest took place the entire duration of the war with the exception of 1945. Surely makes you stop and think.
***why my photo sucks***
Listen, creepy dude. I am fully aware that you were just a touch too close climbing the steps to the Tower of Pisa. And, trust me, I was fully aware that you were about an inch from me as we waited to climb to the top tier — while Ian was behind and couldn’t catch up. I was fully aware that you followed me everywhere on this lovely Tower. And, I was fully aware that you were crowding us as we tried to take this photo, all the while filming with that creepy little point and shoot of yours. I was fully aware that you ‘happened’ to go the same direction as me as I left the tower and I noticed you immediately as I tried to enjoy a nice rest at a cafe with a glass of wine 30 minutes later. I am pretty aware of my surroundings. I have experience with creepy stalkers. And, you are a creepy nasty dude.
Thanks for ruining my photo (asshat).
***a weekend in Stockholm***
Stockholm is an wonderful city. The people are very friendly. It is styled with simplicity and cosmopolitan great taste. It is a very easy city to maneuver. The public transportation is fantastic and easy to understand but it is also very English friendly. And, while I showed up not knowing a word of Swedish, I found what wasn’t bilingual I could decipher because it is very similar to German.
Oh, and we had to.die.for Lebanese food and vegan Asian. YUM!!!!
***my kuckuckuhren!***
We bought a hand-carved with Black Forest wood cuckoo clock this past weekend while we were visiting the little village of Triberg. We have not been shoppers since we moved to Germany. We prefer to put all our extra money into vacations. Fact of the matter is that I have taken a photo of just about everything…. So our cuckoo clock will be the only investment we intend to make while we are here.
It is the perfect cuckoo clock – it is very tradition yet I believe it looks fantastic with my more contemporary furniture because of the simplicity of the dark wood finish. I love it! And, every time it tells me the hour has changed I get a giant grin on my face! It reminds me so much of my childhood trips to visit my grandma and grandad in Pennsylvania. Nothing but happy memories eating cheese puffs and hanging out with my cousins.
